April 20 ------ In May 2025, SB19 spoke about their initial worries of holding a concert at the Philippine Arena during the promos of their third EP “Simula at Wakas.” Fast forward to the present, they’re taking on another risk by hosting their biggest show at the SMDC Festival Grounds, though they’re more confident of taking charge this time around. “We want the production to be a surprise as well,” Pablo told select media in an intimate roundtable, days before their “Wakas at Simula” concert at the Parañaque-based venue.
The group’s leader and chief songwriter was joined by his bandmates, Josh, Stell, Ken, and Justin, who nodded in agreement with knowing smiles. “Pero scale-wise, production-wise, budget-wise, and the people involved, kung madami na ‘yung before, this one is much more massive talaga,” he continued. Ken, who was visibly excited about the quintet’s concert, gamely hinted that they’re raising the bar this time around. “We just [raised] our output. We’re talking about the scale and the production.”
In the past, the quintet performed at the Cuneta Astrodome, Araneta Coliseum, Mall of Asia Arena, and Philippine Arena. “This is the first time magpo-produce kami ng concert outdoors so this is very, very exciting,” Ken said, trying his best not to reveal any details. He also pointed out that while they are aware of the risks it entailed, it wouldn’t hinder them from putting on a good show. “It’s something that the fans haven’t experienced as well. It’s very new to us, and although it’s very risky, kasi outdoor nga siya. We are 100% confident naman na ma-pull off namin ito smoothly,” he continued. When pushed to disclose more details, Josh simply said, “Basta sigurado sa kinabukasan, wala ka nang boses.”
The P-pop powerhouse’s “Simula at Wakas” concert at the Philippine Arena in 2025 lasted for over two hours. The Singapore leg of their world tour at the Arena @ Expo held in August of last year, which the reporter herself attended, had a three-hour time mark.
Looking back at SB19’s past concerts, they would always hold a “homecoming” show, which features the setlist, highlights, and additional performances, making it different from its kickoff concerts. Yet Stell said their “Wakas at Simula” concert — which was initially believed to be a homecoming — is shaping up to be a show worth the audience’s and fans’ (or A’TIN)’s time and money. “‘Yung production and performance namin, d’un pa lang masasabi namin na [it’s worth your money]. It’s too much for us na kahit kami sa rehearsal, nandito pa lang tayo?” he said. “Pero masasabi namin that we prepared for and pinaghandaan namin na ma-present sa inyo nang sobrang [ganda]. You will get more,” he continued.
