Vice, Joshua, Angelica, Maris nominated at 42nd Star Awards for Movies

September 25 ------ PMPC Star Awards Inc. will honor outstanding films from last year, as well as talented artists and creatives, at the 42nd Star Awards for Movies on October 25 at Winford Resort and Casino Manila.

The strong lineup for the Movies of the Year included "Bar Boys: After School" (901 Studios), "Call Me Mother" (ABS-CBN Films, The IdeaFirst Company, Viva Films), "I'mPerfect" (Nathan Studios), "Manila's Finest" (Cignal, MQuest Ventures), "Quezon" (TBA Studios), "The Delivery Rider" (Studio Three Sixty), and "Unmarry" (Quantum Films, Cineko Productions).

"Habang Nilalamon Ng Hydra Ang Kasaysayan" (Cinemalaya Foundation, Sine Metu Media Productions, Nathan Studios), “Journeyman" (Puregold CinePanalo, Black Toro Productions), “Lasting Moments" (Passion 5 Studios), “Olsen's Day" (Puregold CinePanalo, Clever Minds, JG Productions), “I Wish You Said" (Netflix, Project 8 Projects), “Song Of The Fireflies" (Culturtain Musicat Productions, MQuest Ventures, CMB Film Services), and "Sunshine" (Anima, Cloudy Duck Pictures, Happy Infinite Productions, Project 8 Projects) will compete for Indie Movie of the Year.

JM De Guzman ("Lasting Moments"), Vice Ganda ("Call Me Mother"), Joshua Garcia ("Meet, Greet, Bye"), Baron Geisler ("The Delivery Rider"), Piolo Pascual ("Manila's Finest"), Jericho Rosales ("Quezon"), and JC Santos ("Journeyman") all received nominations for Movie Actor of the Year.

The Movie Actress of the Year category showcased a brilliant group of nominees, including Mylene Dizon ("Habang Nilalamon Ng Hydra Ang Kasaysayan"), Nadine Lustre ("Call Me Mother"), Bela Padilla ("100 Awit Para Kay Stella"), Angelica Panganiban ("Unmarry"), Maris Racal ("Sunshine"), Charo Santos-Concio ("Only We Know"), and Maricel Soriano ("Meet Greet Bye").

In recognition of their significant contributions to the film industry, three individuals who are considered pillars of showbiz will receive special awards. The Nora Aunor Ulirang Artista Lifetime Achievement Award will be given to Megastar Sharon Cuneta and veteran actor Rez Cortez.

Meanwhile, former producer Alex Muhlach will receive the Ulirang Alagad ng Pelikula sa Likod ng Kamera Lifetime Achievement Award. Star for All Seasons Vilma Santos-Recto, sound engineer Albert Michael Idioma, and veteran screenwriter and National Artist Ricky Lee will be inducted into the Hall of Fame for winning ten or more times in the categories of Movie Actress of the Year, Movie Sound Engineer of the Year, and Movie Screenwriter of the Year, respectively.

Organized by the officers and members of PMPC Star Awards Inc., led by President Fernan de Guzman and chairman Melba Llanera, the 42nd Star Awards for Movies will be produced by Jojo Mendrez and EV Production and Events, and directed by Vivian Poblete Blancaflor.
