January 5 ------ ROYSE Tubino did not stay long on the free-agent market following her surprise exit from Choco Mucho. The 32-year-old soldier-athlete has landed with the Strong Group Athletics (SGA) stable ahead of the 2026 PVL season, the group announced.

With the move, Tubino is set to be deployed to either Farm Fresh or ZUS Coffee, SGA’s sister teams, at management’s discretion. “Strong Group officially welcomes Honey Royse Tubino to the family! The veteran brings leadership and experience to power our young squads,” the group said in a social media post.

Just two days into the new year, Tubino becomes the first among the four departed Flying Titans to secure a new home in the league, ahead of fellow ex-mainstays Aduke Ogunsanya, Cherry Nunag and Bia General. Their collective exit from Choco Mucho paved the way for a new quartet led by Eya Laure, alongside Caitlin Viray, Alina Bicar and Jaila Atienza.

Tubino spent just one season with the Flying Titans, a stint highlighted by a silver-medal finish and a Finals appearance in the 2024 All-Filipino Conference. What followed, however, was a string of difficult campaigns for the injury-hit squad, which placed ninth, fourth, 10th and ninth in the four tournaments that came after.

At SGA, Tubino joins a familiar cast of former Chery Tiggo standouts Cess Robles, Karen Verdeflor and Ren Peñafiel, all of whom are also part of the group’s player pool. Like them, she will be assigned to either the Foxies or the Thunderbelles before the 2026 All-Filipino Conference opens on January 30.
