Transport groups push for P2 fare hike

August 14 ------ Four different transport organizations went to the main office of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to submit a letter requesting a P2 increase in fare for passengers in public transport services nationwide.

The letter was signed by Orlando Marquez Sr., national president of the Liga ng Transportasyon at Operators sa Pilipinas; Mody Floranda, national president of the Pagkakaisa ng mga Tsuper at Operators Nationwide; Zaldy Ping-ay, president of the Stop & Go Transport Coalition; and Jephraim Gochangco, president of the Federation of Jeepney Operators and Drivers Association of the Philippines.

Higher prices of parts

In their letter, the transport sector leaders raised to LTFRB chairperson Teofilo Guadiz III the rise in prices of parts “needed to ensure safe and comfortable transport services,” as well as the “uncontrollable” surge of fuel prices every week.
