MANILA, Philippines, April 20 ------ Transport group Manibela will hold another three-day transport strike starting tomorrow as drivers continue to suffer amid the energy crisis. “Stop the abuse. Enough of the moneymaking spree. This Tuesday, we will hold another strike to slam the government for its excessive tax collection and exploitation of the people,” Manibela chairman Mar Valbuena told The STAR.
Despite two successive fuel price rollbacks, Valbuena said authorities should push it to P50 to P60 per liter since “this is the real price of fuel and we have paid for oil shipments.” Value-added tax and excise tax on diesel and gasoline products should be removed, he reiterated, given that the government “continues to be dazzled by money in its high and excessive tax collection.”
