MANILA, January 17 ------ The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) said there were more than 1,000 new enterprises that they registered for training programs, noting these helped students with their employment.

TESDA Deputy Director General Nelly Dillera said they want students to be employed immediately after graduating from Senior High School, most especially those under the Technical-Professional (TechPro) Track. Dillera said some of these students were enticed into their new program called enterprise-based training. “Ilan sa masasabi nating accomplishment natin last year – we were able to register or onboard more than 1,000 enterprises para i-register ang programs nila at magra-run sila ng training,” Dillera said. “Ang gusto talaga natin dito sa enterprises-based educational training, yung training will really happen in the companies – in the enterprises [themselves]. Kung titingnan natin ang datos, malaki sa porsyento ng employment rate, pinakamalaking employment rate ang naitala sa enterprises-based education,” she added.

Meanwhile, the undersecretary said there are at least 300 TESDA-run training programs with the help of direct institutional partnerships, which she said also helped students boost their knowledge. “What we are saying is, yung institution-based, community-based, and enterprise-based ang tatlo nating modality. But among the three, ang may pinakamataas na employment rate ay yung enterprise-based education and training,” she said. “Ang training ay ginagawa mismo doon sa mga enterprises,” she said.

The official also stressed the importance of partnering with industries in forming their own programs and curriculum. “Gusto nating aligned yung ating mga programa doon sa kakailanganin ng ating companies which will eventually hire yung ating mga learners. Dapat may koneksyon, hindi dapat detached ang training institutions,” she said. “Eventually, yung mga graduates natin, pupunta sa enterprises. So dapat lang na yung enterprises ay kasama sa mga training programs na ini-implement natin sa training,” she added.
