May 30 ------ "Tayo Sa Wakas," the latest Star Cinema film starring Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano, earned P12 million at the box office on its opening day.

This marks the highest opening gross for a local film this 2026. Moreover, from 200 cinemas on Wednesday, the romance drama will now be screened in 250 cinemas nationwide.

Directed by Cathy Garcia-Sampana, "Tayo Sa Wakas" follows a long-time couple who are also career partners, but are forced to confront how their ambitions have led them down different paths, according to a press release. The film is also Star Cinema's first movie for 2026.

Pangilinan and Mariano — whose onscreen pairing has been featured in past works such as "An Inconvenient Love" and "Can't Buy Me Love" — have said "Tayo Sa Wakas" would be their last project together for the foreseeable future. "Tayo Sa Wakas" is also set for an international release, with screenings in Australia and New Zealand beginning June 11, followed by the United States, Canada, and Guam on June 12.

The film will likewise open in Hong Kong and Macau on June 21, Malaysia in June, Taiwan in August, and the Middle East on a date yet to be announced.
