SWS: 34% of Filipinos say quality of life worsened

Metro Manila, June 18 ------ About a third of Filipinos think their quality of life worsened as compared to 12 months ago, according to an independent pollster.

A Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey conducted from April 19 to 27 but released only recently showed that 34% of adult Filipinos felt life has gotten worse compared in the past year. A slightly lower percentage, 32% of the respondents, said their quality of life actually improved. Another 34% noted their lives have remained unchanged. This translated to a net score of a "fair" -2 — up 14 points from the -16 recorded in December 2021.

The data, however, is still 20 points below the pre-pandemic level of +18 logged in December 2019, according to SWS. SWS attributed the increase to score improvements in all areas and education groups. The nationwide survey was conducted through face-to-face interviews and included a sample of 1,440 adults. It had a ±2.6% margin of error, and ±5.2% for Balance Luzon (areas in Luzon outside of the National Capital Region), Metro Manila, the Visayas, and Mindanao.
