August 18 ------ Several films including “Sunshine,” “Green Bones,” “Magellan” and “Hello, Love, Again” were named as contenders for the Philippines’ official entry to the 98th Oscars Best International Feature category.
Other movies in the roster are “Food Delivery,” “Some Nights I Feel Like Walking” and “Song of the Fireflies,” as announced by Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) chair Jose Javier Reyes on Friday, Aug. 15, at the press conference for the Philippine Film Industry Month (PFIM) 2025.
The committee — consisting of Reyes and six other members — that will choose the official entry is set to convene this August. The chosen film, which will receive financial support from the FDCP and the Film Academy of the Philippines, will be announced during the PFIM Gala Night on Sept. 11.
In 2024, Ramona S. Diaz’s documentary film “And So It Begins” was selected as the country’s entry although it fell short in securing a spot in the shortlist for Best International Feature Film. /ra
