Strong Group flexes might, routs Chinese Taipei for second straight Jones Cup win

MANILA, Philippines, August 17 ------ Statement win for Strong Group. The Strong Group Athletics (SGA) tallied its second straight victory in the William Jones Cup after exploding against Chinese Taipei - A, 97-78 at the Xinzhuang Gymnasium in New Taipei City.
Isaiah Pineiro and Tajuan Agee led the way for the Philippine-based squad with 19 points each. The former added five rebounds, an assist and a steal, while the latter also tallied three boards, two steals, a dime and a swat. SGA led by just four, 27-23, at the end of the first quarter. Slowly, the squad started to pull away, taking a 50-38 lead with seconds remaining in the half after a triple by Martin.
This set the tone the rest of the way, as SGA continued to keep their distance against the home team. Chinese Taipei tried to climb out of the hole, but could not do so, as finishing touches by Agee and William Navarro iced the game. DJ Fenner chipped in 15 markers, while Boban Marjanovic had 14 points and 10 rebounds. Remy Martin had a productive performance with 13 points and seven assists. SGA will return to action on Tuesday against Japan.
