August 20 ------ Following in the footsteps of their parents and relatives, the newly signed artists of Star Magic also made their foray into the entertainment world, but are ready to forge out their own paths in the industry.

At the recent “Shining Now” contract signing and mediacon, proud parents and co-managers Patrick Garcia and Nikka Garcia, Karla Estrada, Gladys Reyes, and other local celebrities showed their support as well as offered their heartfelt advice to their children who embarked on their journeys in acting and singing.

Angelina Cruz, daughter of Sunshine Cruz and Cesar Montano, remarked that being a child of actors is a “big privilege.” “To be a nepo baby is a big privilege. I acknowledged that privilege, po. I guess it’s just up to me to prove myself that I’m worthy of this chance,” she said. Angelina just graduated from college and will soon star in the upcoming Kapamilya series “The Alibi” alongside Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino.

One advice that she got from her mom and dad is to put her heart into everything that she does. “(My mom said that I have to make sure that before I pursue anything, I’m 100 percent certain that I want to pursue this. And when doing something, I give my 110 percent. My dad (said) the same thing. They both have the same work ethic — to work hard and to make sure that what you do is what you love (and that’s) passion,” she told The STAR.

In a video message, Cesar and Sunshine expressed how proud they are of their daughter. Angelina was emotional upon hearing the thoughtful messages from her parents. “It fills me with immense pride to see you finally become an artist,” shared Sunshine. “A dream I know you held close for so long. Your dedication to self-improvement has always inspired me. And now that you’ve achieved your college degree, just as I wished for you and your siblings, you have my complete and unwavering support. 101 percent yan, anak. “Your dad, sisters, and I are so excited for this new chapter and eagerly await your first teleserye. Again, anak, congratulations, we are so proud of you. I love you.”

The daughter of Karla and sister of Kapamilya actor Daniel Padilla, Carmella Ford, is also among the newest additions to ABS-CBN’s talent management arm. She told this paper that her family fully supports her dream of becoming an actress. “But of course, they still guide me. And Kuya DJ (Daniel), nakabantay lang naman po siya, but they’re very supportive and they’re very happy for me.” “My Kuya advised me na magpakatotoo lang naman po ako. And that’s it. My Kuya is very simple and very supportive,” she reiterated.

Karla told her daughter to give her best as she stepped into the world of showbiz. “And most of all, choose to be kind to your co-workers, sa Kapamilya, and love the opportunity that is given to you.”

On the other hand, Joaquin Arce, son of producer-businessman Neil Arce and stepson of Angel Locsin, asserted that he wants to prove his worth in order to earn the opportunity to work with the latter. “Right now, I can’t say for sure whether we’re gonna have a project or not. But maybe if I act well enough, maybe I’ll get on her level, baka magkaroon ako ng karapatan para makatrabaho ko po si Tita Angel.”

The actress, who was last seen active on social media in 2022, shared on her Instagram story the announcement of Star Magic about Joaquin’s venture into showbiz. “Me, your mom, and your dad are very proud of you. Can’t wait to work with you,” she captioned her story, which was posted days prior to the contract signing.

Angel’s husband, Neil, for his part, extended his congratulations to his son. “’Wag mo akong papahiyain,” he quipped and added that his son has been wanting to act for three years now. “And I’m very happy that he’s here. And I saw naman his dedication. He underwent workshops for the past years, na kahit walang sweldo. So good luck and do your best and let God do the rest.”

The youngest in the group to sign with Star Magic was Michelle Garcia, the daughter of Patrick Garcia and wife, Nikka Martinez. The 12-year-old earlier performed as a front act at the “Grand BINIverse” concert at the Big Dome. “The advice that I got from my parents would be to stay grateful and to be humble all the time — off camera and on camera,” she told the press.

Former child star and also a Star Magic talent, Patrick, reminded his daughter to “just enjoy this journey.” “This should be fun. Treat everything with passion. Love what you do. Because when you love what you do, it doesn’t feel like work, and it shouldn’t feel like work at your age. It should be fun,” he said. “Just have fun, and your mom and dad are here to always guide you and to protect you as well as the Star Magic. Star Magic is always there. I’ve been under their wing before, and I love all the people in Star Magic. They’ll take good care of you. Don’t worry.”

Possessing musical pedigree, on the other hand, are Ezri, Juli, and Tasha of The Mitra Sisters. They are hoping to conquer the music scene as well, like their parents, singer-concert producer Cacai Mitra and musical director-composer Raul Mitra, and of course, their aunt, Asia’s Songbird, Regine Velasquez-Alcasid. The sibling trio is currently working on original music under Star Music. “We got to see our Tita and family embraced this community, so it just feels like an honor that we got to be part of that,” commented Tasha. “I’m very proud and I just wanna tell the girls that all of these things will go away, but being sisters is more important talaga, for me ha,” Regine told her nieces. “Mahirap to work with family talaga, but again lahat ng ito mawawala, but your siblings will stay with you forever. I’m so proud of you girls. God bless you.”

Meanwhile, Christof Roxas, the child of Gladys and Christopher Roxas, is a recording artist under Star Music who is into the rock music genre. According to Christof, his mother would always remind him to put his faith and values above all else. He added, “My dad would always say, ‘Paa sa lupa, mata sa langit,’ which is a statement for grounding yourself and always remembering to stay authentic and to never change, no matter what, not for anyone, not for anything.”
