MANILA, Philippines, June 8 ------ The Social Security System and a digital bank have agreed in principle to work together "to make matters easier for overseas Filipinos to transact with SSS."

As a result, SSS president and CEO Robert Joseph Montes De Claro said in a statement emailed to The Manila Times that a memorandum of agreement (MOA) will soon be forged with the UnionDigital Bank to formalize the partnership. De Claro said the proposed agreement followed a courtesy visit by the bank's top executive, Danilo Mojica II late last week to the SSS' central office in Quezon City where they discussed partnership opportunities.

De Claro reiterated that he and Mojica agreed in principle to coordinate and work together in developing and implementing a micro lending program for SSS members with 15- to 90-day tenor. "We simply want to make matters easier for overseas Filipinos to transact with SSS as it goes through digitalization," De Claro said. "Through our partnership with UnionDigital Bank, we look forward to further enhancing service delivery to all Filipino workers – service being our main thrust under this administration," he added.

Mojica said his company was fully supporting the SSS in its digitalization and service delivery efforts as "it commits to cooperate in any way to achieve these goals." The meeting between UnionDigital Bank and SSS shows earnest efforts to team up with companies and platforms to improve online services for millions of SSS members, especially Overseas Filipino Workers, De Claro said.
