MANILA, Philippines, October 1 ------ Fresh from making history as the first Filipino and first male Asian winner of “The Voice” Season 26, Sofronio Vasquez has joined the Young Voices of the Philippines (YVP) for “Seas Unbroken,” a song celebrating unity among Southeast Asian nations.

Vasquez made his debut performance of the song with YVP aboard the Wish 107.5 Bus, bringing together the internationally recognized vocalist and a new generation of Filipino choral performers.

Written by Von de Guzman, “Seas Unbroken” was created in support of the Philippines’ Asean Chairship in 2026. The song draws from the seas and islands that connect Southeast Asian countries, with its central message summed up in the refrain, “Seas unbroken, we are one.”

The collaboration gives the song a contemporary Filipino sound, with Vasquez’s powerful vocals complemented by the youthful voices of YVP.

For Vasquez, the performance follows his historic victory on the US edition of “The Voice,” where he became the first Filipino and first male Asian to win the competition. His participation in “Seas Unbroken” marks another opportunity for the singer to represent Filipino talent on an international platform.

YVP is one of the scholar choirs of the Treble Choir Association of the Philippines (TCAP), an organization that provides young performers with opportunities to develop their musical abilities through rehearsals, performances and festivals. The song also carries meaning for the Philippines, an archipelagic country whose geography and culture are closely tied to the sea. Its message reflects the shared geography, history, culture and aspirations of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

The Philippines assumed the Asean Chairship on Jan. 1, 2026, under the theme “Navigating Our Future, Together,” with priorities centered on peace and security, prosperity, and people empowerment. The 2026 chairship also coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia, which promotes peaceful relations and cooperation among countries in the region.

Through Vasquez and YVP, “Seas Unbroken” brings together two generations of Filipino voices while carrying a message of regional solidarity.
