PAGASA placed La Union, Pangasinan, the rest of Benguet, the rest of Nueva Vizcaya, the rest of Aurora, Zambales, Bataan, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Metro Manila, Rizal, Laguna, Cavite, Batangas, Quezon, Marinduque, the central and eastern portions of Romblon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, and Masbate under Signal No. 1. “Current forecast scenario shows that the highest wind signal that may be hoisted will be Wind Signal No. 4 or 5,” PAGASA warned.

The bureau said Egay is expected to exit the country’s weather monitoring area on Wednesday evening or Thursday morning. It is also seen to continue intensifying and may reach super typhoon category by late tomorrow or early Wednesday. “Egay is forecast to become a very strong typhoon. A weakening trend may begin by Wednesday afternoon or evening as it enters the cooler waters southwest and west of Taiwan,” PAGASA said.
