Sharon Cuneta, Barbie Forteza face off in ABS-CBN-GMA drama

MANILA, Philippines, August 12 ------ The first look images of upcoming Filipino suspense drama "Honor Thy Mother" bannered by Sharon Cuneta and Barbie Forteza have been released. Sharon and Barbie are an estranged mother-and-daughter duo who cross paths anew as business rivals in the Prime Video drama.

Sharon plays the boss of a powerful family-run business whose carefully controlled world is shaken by an unexpected crisis, while Barbie plays for her long-lost daughter. Both women must navigate their complicated relationship "shaped by secrets, ambition, and the painful consequences of the past." "As old wounds resurface and they fight for what is rightfully theirs, they must decide whether to confront the past together or let it tear them apart," a synopsis for the show goes.

John Estrada and Khalil Ramos were previously announced to be joining Sharon and Barbie, and they will be joined by Tonton Gutierrez and Mercedes Cabral. "Wildflower" and "Dirty Linen" director Onat Diaz will helm the project alongside Jojo Saguin of "Linlang" fame. The directors are reunited after working on "The Alibi" last year.

The upcoming series will be the third collaboration between former rival networks ABS-CBN and GMA-7. The two previously collaborated on the 2023 series "Unbreak My Heart" and on the two seasons of "Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition."

Barbie starred in the 2023 television remake of "Maging Sino Ka Man," playing the character Sharon had originated in the 1991 film. "Honor Thy Mother" will premiere this September 11 on Prime Video to kick off a 14-episode run.
