Shanti Dope debuts on Billboard charts with 'Amatz'

MANILA, PHILIPPINES, April 16 ------ The song ranks 10th on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart. Rapper Shanti Dope debuted on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart top 10 on Tuesday, April 13, with his song "Amatz" putting him in the 10th spot. On Twitter, Billboard singled him out, along with three other artists making their debut on the chart's Top 10: BTS for "Film Out" in No. 1, SEVENTEEN's Hoshi for "Spider" in No. 5, and EXO's Chanyeol for "Tomorrow" in No. 9.

The World Digital Song Sales chart ranks the 25 best-selling digital singles under the "world music" category. Aside from "Amatz," the only other Filipino hit single that made it to the chart was "Tala" by Sarah Geronimo, ranking at No. 12 back in 2020. It's another international milestone for Shanti Dope and "Amatz." The song was also recently featured in an episode of the Marvel Studios series The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Written by Shanti Dope himself and Lester "DJ Klumcee" Vaño, "Amatz" was released in March 2019 and has made headlines since – notably when the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency called for it to be banned for supposedly promoting the use of marijuana, which is illegal in the Philippines.
