SCTEX toll hike to be implemented starting Oct. 17

Metro Manila, October 16 ------ Motorists using the 93.77-kilometer Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) will have to pay higher toll fees starting Oct. 17 following the approval of an increase by the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB).
Those traveling between Mabalacat City, Pampanga and Tarlac will be charged an additional ₱25 for Class 1 vehicles while Class 2 and Class 3 vehicles will pay an additional ₱50 and ₱75, respectively. NLEX Corporation, which operates the SCTEX, also raised the toll fees between Mabalacat City and Tipo, Hermosa in Bataan (near Subic Freeport) by ₱40 for Class 1, ₱81 for Class 2 and ₱121 for Class 3 vehicles.
Those traveling end-to-end between Tipo and Tarlac will have to pay an additional ₱65 for Class 1, ₱131 for Class 2 and ₱196 for Class 3 vehicles. Approved on Aug. 16, the increased rates are part of the company’s authorized periodic adjustments due in 2021 and 2023.
The company also explained that the implemented new fees will be the first of three tranches of toll rate adjustments.
