September 18 ------ The P-pop industry is soaring to greater heights as all-Filipino acts SB19, BINI, G22, and BGYO received nominations for the upcoming BreakTudo Awards 2024, which is based in Brazil. The P-pop acts are up against various international acts at the Brazil-based awards ceremony, which celebrates artists around the world, according to its official website.
SB19 received nominations in two categories: International Male Group and International Music Group. The latter nomination recognized their work in the music video for “Moonlight,” which was done with music producers Ian Asher and Terry Zhong. The P-pop powerhouse will be vying for the International Male Group award alongside K-pop boy groups Seventeen, Tomorrow X Together (TXT), Stray Kids, and RIIZE, as well as BE:FIRST, 5 SOS, and Big Time Rush. BINI also received two nominations at the awards ceremony, namely for International New Artist and International Music Video for “Cherry on Top.” The eight-member girl group will be up against K-pop girl groups BabyMonster and Kiss of Life. Also nominated are Benson Boone, Chappell Roan, Djo, Henry Moodie, and Shaboozey.
Meanwhile, G22 and BGYO bagged the Song by New International Artist nomination for their songs “I Hate Boys” and “Patintero,” respectively. BINI and BGYO’s label Star Music took to its official X (formerly Twitter) page to congratulate the P-pop groups on their respective nominations. SB19’s social media platforms, on the other hand, have yet to make a statement on the male quintet’s nominations, as of press time. This marks the second time for SB19 and BINI to be recognized by the Brazil-based awards ceremony. In 2023, the P-pop powerhouse bagged the International Male Group award, while the “Pantropiko” hitmakers brought home the International New Artist Song Award for “I Feel Good.”
