March 6 ------ PLDT had to dig deep to escape a five-set scare against Farm Fresh in a thrilling encounter, 25-17, 23-25, 27-25, 21-25, 15-10, in the 2026 PVL All-Filipino Conference at the Playtime Filoil Centre. The High Speed Hitters climbed to the top of the standings with a 5-1 record, overtaking sister team Cignal, which slipped to second place at 5-2. PLDT quickly set the tone, taking control in the opening set for a comfortable 25-17 win.
The Foxies fought back in the second frame, with Royse Tubino leading a late surge. After a 20-all deadlock, Tubino’s heroics helped Farm Fresh edge the set 25-23, keeping the match alive. Farm Fresh carried that momentum into the third, opening with a 6-3 lead. PLDT then ignited a 9-2 run to dictate the pace and regain control.
The Foxies responded with a 5-1 mini-run of their own, but the High Speed Hitters countered again with a 7-2 rally. Savi Davison capped the surge with a crucial block that gave PLDT set point. Tubino kept Farm Fresh alive, saving multiple set points and knotting the frame at 24-all. Davison, however, took charge for PLDT, scoring back-to-back points to close out the thrilling set and move one frame away to seal the match.
On the other hand, Farm Fresh refused to go down without a fight, dictating the pace in the fourth set and eventually taking it to force a decider. Down to the final frame, PLDT immediately took control, with Davison shutting down Farm Fresh’s comeback attempt to seal the win. Davison towed PLDT with 32 points built through 28 attacks, three blocks, and one block while Kianna Dy backed her up with 19 markers. “It was actually harder for me to stay focused when there were so many breaks, timeouts, calls, and challenges. You know, when there are lapses like that, when you’re not playing and not locked in it’s hard to come back to it,” Davison stated. “But when you have a chip on your shoulder, like when a call doesn’t go your way, I feel like that fires us up to do better, stay more focused, and push ourselves more,” she added.
On the other side, Ria Meneses paced Farm Fresh with 17 points, while Trisha Tubu and Ces Molina contributed 16 and 14 markers, respectively. The Foxies, who have now dropped back-to-back five-set thrillers, slipped to a 2-4 record and will look to bounce back against Choco Mucho on March 10. PLDT, meanwhile, will face Galeries Tower on the same day and at the same venue.
