June 29 ------ SARINA Bolden will be missing out on the Philippines’ campaign in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026 Qualifiers. The Filipinas released their 26-women roster for the competition to be held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia with their star striker not on the list.

Also notably absent from the roster that will face Saudi Arabia on June 29 to open the qualifiers is Katrina Guillou, Bolden’s teammate in the 2022 FIFA Women’s World Cup squad. The Filipinas will also be taking on Cambodia on July 2 and Hong Kong on July 5. Quinley Quezada and Meryll Serrano were the notable returness to the team after missing from the last international window in May.

Also on the list are goalkeepers Olivia McDaniel, Inna Palacios, Gabrielle Baker, and Nina Meollo; defenders Hali Long, Angela Beard, Malea Cesar, Rhea Chan, Jessika Cowart, Janae Defazio, Katana Norman, and Sofia Wunsch; midfielders Sara Eggesvik, Kaya Hawkinson, Charisa Lemoran, Bella Pasion, Alexa Pino, Jaclyn Sawicki, and Ava Villapando; and forwards Carleigh Frilles, Nina Mathelus, Chandler McDaniel, Dionesa Tolentin, and Chayse Yang. However, Bolden, playing for Como in the Italian league, will be sorely missed by the Filipinas on the offensive end, having scored 31 goals during a seven-year international career which included the historic goal of the Philippines in its win over New Zealand in the Women’s World Cup.

Last May, Filipinas coach Mark Torcaso said Bolden was undergoing “rehabilitation,” expressing hope that he will be ready for the Asian Cup qualifiers. The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) has not revealed the reason for the absence of Bolden and Guillou for the qualifiers.

The Filipinas must top Group G to gain a seat in the Asian Cup.
