October 28 ------ THE phrase seven-year itch is defined as “supposed infidelity on the seventh year of marriage.” Clearly, and strictly, it is one inevitable phase that occurs — or is expected to occur — in most wedded couples. There are isolated cases, though, where it applies to romantic relationships.
Speaking of which, celebrity sweethearts Bianca Umali and Ruru Madrid marked their seventh year a couple of months back. Fortunately for them, or as fate would have it, they came out of it without Ruru committing any single act of infidelity.
In fairness to the Kapuso actor, he has been candid enough to admit he hopped from one relationship to another until he screeched to a “full stop” with Bianca. Yes, Ruru has never laid his eyes on any other girl! So, to make him believe that the so-called seven-year itch does exist is totally pointless.
If so, can Ruru say with conviction that his relationship with Bianca has leveled up to the point that they get to talk about settling down? “Honestly, we don’t. Particularly in my case, it’s all a matter of gut feel. Once I feel it, then that’s it!” he shared. His visceral basis, though, doesn’t mean marrying Bianca is not in the equation, so to speak.
Ruru insists that Bianca is “the one.” “Wouldn’t we have reached this far if I believed otherwise? I’m only speaking for myself... I can’t really say the exact date of our wedding, but she’s definitely the woman I want to spend the rest of my life with!”
Based on impression, Ruru has yet to fulfill what’s on his career bucket list — and everything else will fall into place. Still, at the moment, Ruru is still basking in his second victory following his Best Supporting Actor trophy this time from the 53rd Box Office Entertainment Awards held in July. His triumph reaffirmed his first-ever receipt of the same recognition in last year’s Metro Manila Film Festival for the film Green Bones. “I still can’t get the hang of it, most especially if I hear comments about my performance from those who missed the movie last year and just saw it on Netflix! Hope I can make more of this in the future,” Ruru gushed.
