MANILA, Philippines, January 21 ------ “Pinoy Big Brother (PBB): Celebrity Collab Edition” housemate River Joseph expressed gratitude for 2025, saying the year allowed him to achieve his dreams and grow more mature in his craft and in the showbiz industry. River was the fourth Big Placer together with his duo, AZ Martinez, in the “PBB” 2025 edition.
“I would describe (2025) as (a year of) reaching my dreams because a lot has happened during that year, from ‘PBB’ to all these dream projects. I really grew more last year and I’m more mature. And now I really want to focus on acting and really improving my acting,” he told The STAR during Star Magic’s Spotlight presscon. He further described 2025 as an “unexpected” year. “Never in my wildest dreams did I think this would happen. I’m super happy that everything happened. I’m super happy that last year was good.”
The Kapamilya actor is one of the Star Magic artists who participated in the Metro Manila Film Festival 2025, along with “PBB” housemates Brent Manalo, Esnyr, and Klarisse de Guzman, in “Call Me Mother” starring Vice Ganda and Nadine Lustre. He is also set to star in the forthcoming series “The Secrets of Hotel 88.” River’s New Year’s resolution is to keep improving and get better at his acting craft, and he manifested that he would land more projects soon.
Looking back on his journey inside the iconic yellow house, River shared that his life had significantly changed after his stint. He has become busier and has met many new people. “I finally met the people that I looked up to in showbiz, including the guests na pumasok sa ‘PBB’, and being able to work with veteran actors now. So I could say after ‘PBB,’ I definitely grew more as a person. I learned a lot of lessons from ‘PBB’ that I carried with me outside the house,” he asserted.
He also noted how his popularity changed after his ‘PBB’ experience and said he still gets surprised when people recognize him in public places. “But I get happy naman when that happens or when I see someone na kilala ako. It warms my heart, din.” River acknowledged that his life has become an open book to the public after his ‘PBB’ exposure. “Andaming, hurtful words that were said to me,” he admitted. “But I try to take it as constructive criticism. I try to put myself in their places, and I try not to get affected. “My family is not used to these criticisms and all. I just hope that it won’t be too hard for them. Kasi ako kaya ko, but yung family ko parang they’re not built for this, so I just hope everything goes well,” he added.
On dealing with “bashing and judgment” in the public eye, River said he just stays true to his “core values.” “Knowing what’s true and what’s not. I just always bring my values with me along the way,” he maintained. Even his family was surprised by the popularity they received, especially his mom, Ida. “She gets recognized now whenever she goes out because she entered the ‘PBB’ house (as a visitor). We would joke with her, ‘Wow, you’re also an artist because you have fans.’ Maybe for them, it’s also an adjustment because they’re not used to this. But they enjoy everything that is happening,” he said.
