MANILA, Philippines, August 5 ------ As the grand coronation night of the inaugural Reina Filipinas approaches, several candidates reflected on what inspired them to join the pageant and shared why they believe they deserve to wear the crown.

Ahead of the finals on Aug. 7 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater, The STAR caught up with the beauty queens during a gym training session at Fitness 8 on Quezon Ave., where they talked about their pageant journeys, personal motivations and aspirations for the crown.

Under the newly launched local pageant, one candidate will be crowned Reina Filipinas Grand International, also known as Miss Grand Philippines, and two titleholders for Reina Filipinas All Stars, who will represent the Philippines at the international edition of Miss Grand International (MGI) All Stars.

Representing Iloilo City, Miss Eco International 2025 Alexie Caimoso Brooks told The STAR that while she is grateful to have already won an international crown for the Philippines, she believes there is still more she can achieve. “I recently launched my brand, and I thought I’m at the stage of my life where I want to focus more on my business, myself and what I can do more for my future. I think Reina Filipinas is the best platform that can help me become a better brand, not just for myself but for my business also.” If given the chance to win another crown, Alexie said the victory would be different — it would be one she dedicates to herself.

“When I was competing for sports, I dedicated it to my grandmother. When I was doing my academics, I dedicated it to my family. I joined Miss Universe Philippines (MUPH 2025) because of my grandma. I wanted to give her a better life. Unfortunately, she passed away two years ago. I think regardless na kahit wala na siya, alam ko na gusto niya gawin ko ‘to para sa sarili ko. So, I think, this time around, I’m doing it for myself, to make myself proud,” she mused. “I’m (also) doing it for every woman out there who went through so many things in life but never gave up because they know they can,” she continued.
