Regine Velasquez is Billboard PH’s Woman of the Year

March 19 ------ Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez has been hailed as Billboard Philippines‘ Woman of the Year this 2026, with the magazine highlighting the standard she set in Filipino music.


The title being given to Velasquez was announced on Tuesday, March 17, with the publication underscoring the veteran singer’s contribution in shaping the local music scene. “From unforgettable anthems to incredible live performances, her artistry remains a foundation for the industry today and a benchmark for the future,” it said.


It further described Velasquez as “a force in the industry” whose career is “defined by vocal brilliance, cultural impact, and an unwavering dedication to OPM.” Velasquez will be honored with the award during the Billboard Philippines Women In Music 2026 event scheduled on March 24. Aside from Velasquez, other female artists who will be recognized at the upcoming event are G22 as a “Rising Star,” KZ Tandingan as a “Rule Breaker,” Yeng Constantino as a “Hitmaker,” BINI as a “Powerhouse,” and Lolita Carbon as an “Icon.”


Velasquez recently opened up about her struggle with stage anxiety, lamenting how performing on stage was something that used to excite her. She nonetheless assured fans that she is okay, saying it might be part of aging.
