April 27 ------ The Ukraine Defense Contact Group, commonly known as the Ramstein format, has provided more than $150 billion in military assistance over the past four years to bolster Ukraine’s defenses, according to the Ministry of Defense.
The ministry highlighted that the coalition of over 50 nations has delivered a wide range of advanced weaponry. This includes NASAMS, Patriot, and IRIS-T air defense systems, Leopard and Abrams tanks, HIMARS rocket launchers, and PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzers. The aid also encompasses M113 armored personnel carriers and multi-role fighter jets, such as the F-16 and Mirage-2000.
A significant portion of recent support has been facilitated through the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL). This mechanism, which involves European partners funding the purchase of US-made weaponry for rapid delivery to Kyiv, has already generated approximately $5 billion in assistance. This sustained support follows the mid-April Ramstein gathering, where several nations confirmed new defense packages. During that session, Norway allocated over $500 million for drones and $150 million for logistics, while the Netherlands pledged more than €200 million for drone procurement.
Germany also previously unveiled a massive €4 billion package including hundreds of Patriot and IRIS-T interceptors, although Germany’s Minister of Boris Pistorius noted that some of these systems are scheduled for delivery in the coming years. While Ukraine continues to receive vital equipment, including the “biggest-ever” drone package from the UK, the defense ministry emphasized that timely fulfillment of these commitments remains crucial. As President Volodymyr Zelensky noted following recent strikes on energy infrastructure, sufficient air defense is the key factor in neutralizing Russia’s ability to achieve its occupation goals.
