July 22 ------ The pioneer batch of Reina Filipinas candidates had not one, not two, but three international beauty queens to help them in their quest for the crown—reigning Miss Grand International Emma Tiglao, her predecessor Christine Juliane “CJ” Opiaza, and 2020 Miss Universe Philippines Rabiya Mateo.

The three accomplished titleholders were among the speakers at the “masterclass” sessions with the Reina Filipinas candidates on Saturday, July 18, at Fitness8 in Quezon City.

Tiglao, who is also the organization’s national director, discussed the branding of a Miss Grand International queen, as well as content creation and the best practices on social media, at the marathon series of learning sessions with the 21 official candidates.

Opiaza, who has become synonymous with electrifying stage performances and a “pasarela” (pageant walk) coach herself, conducted a pasarela exercise to help the candidates deliver exciting routines for the fans.

Mateo, who has put her show biz career on hold to pursue a degree in medicine, delivered a talk on “Acing the Q&A (question-and-answer).” The licensed physical therapist was an instructor before she became a beauty queen.

The delegates also learned about e-commerce and the best practices in live selling from someone who they are also familiar with, content creator Miss Deliciousness who conducted the talk “The Biggest B: Business.” The Miss Grand International pageant, where Reina Filipinas is affiliated with, has the “4 Bs,” for beauty, body, brains, and business. Another question-and-answer training session was conducted by lawyer Grego Nuega, Reina Filipinas Head of Legal, while talent director Harley Tan facilitated a talk on artist branding and talent management.

DandyGlow CEO Aubrey Gonzales and BeautyVault Marketing Manager Glenn Lawas also spoke to the ladies about business and building a brand outside of the pageant stage. Their talk also touched on the country’s beauty and wellness industry. To take advantage of the physical fitness facilities at Fitness8, the ladies got to try out the equipment, including the arcade game machines, at a fitness and wellness session facilitated by Fitness8 Founder Leomar Bilog.

The final competition of the first-ever edition of Reina Filipinas will take place at the Newport Performing Arts Theater of Newport World Resorts in Pasay City on Aug. 7. Four international pageant winners are expected to be part of the judging panel.
