December 4 ------ QUENDY Fernandez bagged her fourth gold medal in her hometown in the swimming competitions of the 11th BIMP-EAGA Friendship Games at the Ramon V. Mitra Sports Complex in Puerto Princesa City. The 19-year-old Fernandez, representing Philippines Team E, grabbed the girls’ 100m backstroke with a time of one minute, 7.21 seconds, beating Lora Micah Amoguis of PH Team A and Jann Maureen Doton of PH Team B.
Fernandez, the UAAP Season 86 Athlete of the Year for Individual Sports for University of the Philippines already has the 4x50m girls’ 200m medley and freestyle relays, and the 50m backstroke. It just really brings so much joy and energy.
PH Team A’s Philip Sahagun claimed his third gold medal in the boys’ 100m backstroke, adding to the 200m backstroke and 4x100 medley. Milchay Moreno snared the women’s 400m gold in athletics with a time of 1:00.41.
