March 3 ------ The National Assembly of Quebec unanimously adopted a Motion in support of Ukraine proposed by the Premier of Quebec, François Legault, and representatives of all political parties on the occasion of the 4th anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

This Motion provides:

“THAT the National Assembly of Quebec recalls that, for four years, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has had terrible human and material consequences;

THAT it reaffirms its full solidarity with the Ukrainian people and Quebecers of Ukrainian descent;

THAT it salutes the admirable resilience of the Ukrainian people;

THAT it reiterates the importance of continuing international efforts to help Ukraine, particularly for its defense and reconstruction;

THAT it reaffirms its support of respect for the territorial integrity of Ukraine and the values of democracy and the rule of law;

THAT it supports the importance of a diplomatic outcome to this war to achieve a lasting peace, with security guarantees, negotiated by all parties;

THAT, finally, the National Assembly observes a minute of silence in memory of the victims of this invasion.”

Later, the Premier of Quebec, François Legault, greeted the Ukrainian delegation at the National Assembly of Quebec and discussed with them the current situation in Ukraine.

The Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Montreal, Eugene Czolij, who headed the Ukrainian delegation to Quebec City, thanked the Premier of Quebec for the adoption by the National Assembly of Quebec of the Motion in support of Ukraine, reaffirming the respect for the territorial integrity of Ukraine and for the assistance provided to Ukrainians displaced in Quebec.
