November 27 ------ The costs of several agricultural commodities, including special rice, went up in the first days of November, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reported. In a data released by PSA, a kilogram of special rice posted an average retail price of P61.40 between Nov. 1 and 5, up by 1.3 percent from P60.52 per kilogram in the second phase of October. Of the regions, Central Visayas had the highest price of special rice at P70.83 per kilogram, while the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) posted the lowest at P55.12 per kilogram during the first phase of November.
Likewise, pure beef meat experienced an increment at a price of P417.61 per kilogram. This translates to an increase of 1.3 percent from the P412.33 per kilogram of beef in the second phase of October. Central Luzon registered the highest price of beef at P461.61 while the lowest average retail price was noted in Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) at P350 per kilogram during the first period. Galunggong also saw an increase of 3.2 percent to its average retail price of P207.94 per kilogram during the first days of November, slightly higher than the P201.58 per kilogram in the second phase of October.
National Capital Region (NCR) recorded the highest price of P262.27 per kilogram, while the lowest was reported in BARMM at P130.83. Meanwhile, a kilogram of carrots experienced a relatively higher increase of 7.3 percent at the average retail price of P153.47 from the P143.07 recorded in the second phase last month. Its highest price was noted in Western Visayas at P207.81, while the lowest was in CAR at P109.08. Calamansi registered a higher increment with an average retail price of P80.77 per kilogram during the first phase of November. This shows an increase of 8.6 percent from the last phase of October at P74.37 per kilogram.
MIMAROPA Region experienced the calamansi’s highest price at P103.00, while Region XII had the lowest at P53.28 per kilogram. Further, PSA reported price declines in red onion and refined sugar during the first phase of November at P180.50 and P91.95 per kilogram each, respectively. Red onion dropped by 2.7 percent while refined sugar noted a decrease of 1.8 percent from the last phase a month ago.
Among regions, Eastern Visayas posted the highest average retail price of red onion at P235.33, while NCR recorded the lowest at P141.16 per kilogram. For refined sugar, the highest price of a kilogram of refined sugar was also noted in Eastern Visayas at P105.75, while the lowest was observed in BARMM at P82.75 per kilogram.
