Powerhouse teams Poland, USA secure seats in Round of 16

MANILA, September 16 ------ Poland has secured a seat in the Round of 16 at the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship. This, as the Poles made quick work of Qatar in Pool B, 25-21, 25-14, 25-19, eliminating their rivals in the process at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.


Kamil Semeniuk set the tone with 13 points built on 11 attacks and two service aces. With the Poland win, the Netherlands has also clinched a seat in the next phase, while Romania is also ousted from the race. Meanwhile, Team USA has grabbed a 2-0 win-loss record in Pool D after taking care of business against Portugal, 25-19, 25-22, 25-17, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.


As they are now sitting on a six-point output, the Americans can no longer be chased by Colombia or Portugal, thus clinching a ticket to the Round of 16. Gabriel Garcia and Jordan Ewert led the American side with 12 points each. Bulgaria had also advanced to the Round of 16 after averting disaster in the face of Slovenian fightback, 25-19, 25-14, 18-25, 23-25, 15-13, in Pool E, securing its second win—its sixth point in the pool phase.
