MANILA, July 15 ------ A power maintenance is scheduled at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 from 10 p.m. on Tuesday to 2 a.m. on Wednesday. "This is part of ongoing efforts to keep NAIA safe, reliable, and operating at its best," according to the operator New NAIA Infra, Corp.(NNIC) in an advisory. Meralco Energy, Inc.'s maintenance requires a temporary power interruption, it added.

Although backup generators would support critical systems, brief disruptions are expected in elevators, escalators, baggage handling system, air conditioning, lighting, and electrical outlets. "We will do our best to keep any inconvenience to a minimum," the San Miguel Corp.-led consortium said. Power maintenance was also set at the Terminal 3 last May 29, resulting in the unavailability of some boarding bridges for at least four hours.

To recall, in September 2022, at least 31 flights were delayed when power outage hit Terminal 3, resulting in the disruption of operations, manual check-in and loading of baggage, and longer processing at immigration counters. In June 2023, another power interruption hit the same terminal, causing the cancellation of seven flights as well as long queues at immigration.
