Polo team begins Philippines' campaign in 33rd SEA Games

December 4 ------ THE Philippine polo team starts the country’s campaign in the 33rd Southeast Asian Games five days before the formal opening of the multisport competition.
The Philippines faces Indonesia in the mixed 2-4 goals preliminaries at the VS Sports Club in Samutprakan as polo makes its return in the SEA Games after being held in 2019 in Calatagan, Batangas. The team is led by Stefano Juban, who was part of the Philippine squad that bagged the silver in the 4-6 high goal and bronze in the 0-2 low goal division in the 2019 edition.
Eduardo Miguel Lopez is also in the squad after being part of the silver medal squad in 2019 with Juban in the sport also known to be 'The Sport of Kings.' Also in the mixed 2-4 goals team are Robert Esguerra, Patrick Antonio Cruz, Angelo Abelardo Gerard Licaros, Jose Maria Augusto De Jesus, and Juan Xavier Tengco.
The polo competition includes the participation of Thailand billionaire Aiyawatt Raksriaksorn, chairman of football clubs Leicester City in England and OH Leuven in Germany. Also in the polo competition are Malaysia prince Muhammad of Pahang, and Brunei prince Mateen Ibni Sultn Hassanal Bolkiah, Brunei princess Azemah Ni’ Matul Bolkiah, and Brunei prince Bahar Ibni Jefri Bolkiah. The Philippine men’s and women’s football team will also see action in the coming days in Chang Mai and Chonburi respectively.
