MANILA, Philippines, July 14 ------ After a month of closure, the Philippine National Railways (PNR) will resume train operations between the provinces of Laguna and Quezon today.

The Calamba-Lucena-Calamba route has stops in Calamba, Pansol, Masili, Los Baños, College, IRRI and San Pablo in Laguna as well as Tiaong (Lalig), Candelaria, Lutucan, Sariaya and Lucena in Quezon. The train will depart Lucena at 5 a.m. and will arrive in Calamba at past 7:30 a.m. or approximately two hours and 30 minutes. Return trip will depart Calamba at 5:45 p.m. and will arrive in Lucena at 8:18 p.m.

Fares for regular passengers will range from P15 to P105 depending on the destination. Students, senior citizens and persons with disability will receive discounts or will pay between P12 and P84. The reopening of the Lucena-Calamba-Lucena train line came almost a month after the PNR suspended the operation on June 17 to repair the rails, embankments and bridges.

The management said it needed to prepare the rail line for the transfer and operation of train sets previously used for the PNR’s Metro Manila line, which was shut down in March 2024. The PNR has three daily train trips from Sipocot to Naga in Camarines Sur and back, and two from Naga to Legazpi in Albay.
