PhilHealth offers ambulance service package

MANILA, Philippines, November 21 ------ Filipinos in need of emergency care can now avail themselves of the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. ambulance service package. The PhilHealth ambulance service packages range from Basic Life Support Ambulance, priced at P4,100, to Advanced Life Support Ambulance costing P4,600, and the Physician-managed Advanced Life Support Ambulance, priced at P6,100.

A separate coverage for the maintenance and fuel costs of ambulance service is also provided, with rates ranging from P250 for the first five kilometers, P500 for distances up to 10 km, P750 (15 km), P1,000 (20 km) and P1,250 for distances exceeding 20 km. PhilHealth said the distance traveled would be measured from the point of ambulance dispatch until patient handover to a hospital.

According to PhilHealth, the new benefit package aims to establish coverage for emergency services in pre-hospital settings that are not covered by other existing packages. “It facilitates transport of patients and is equipped to deliver emergency medical interventions and life-saving measures to support and ensure patient stability during transit,” PhilHealth said.

The ambulance service benefit package is part of the PhilHealth outpatient emergency care benefit or OECB package.
