PH signs agreement with Croatia for employment opportunities, OFW protection

October 22 ------ Filipinos seeking employment in Croatia could be assured of safe recruitment process after the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) signed an agreement with the Croatian Employment Service (CES) to improve coordination between the two governments to facilitate employment opportunities.
DMW Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac said the agreement will also pave the way for the protection of existing and would be overseas Filipino workers in Croatia under the government-to-government (G2G) recruitment activity. “Croatia is getting one of our core strengths in our labor market, which is workers from the hospitality sector. They are top-notch and world-class, and we are proud to say that it is you,” Cacdac said.
The Implementing Guidelines for the Recruitment of Filipino Workers in Croatia was signed by DMW Undersecretary Jainal T. Rasul Jr. and CES Director General Ante Loncar. Cacdac said the guidelines cover recruitment processes, requirements, and the responsibilities of both governments regarding recruitment, worker protection, and monitoring.
The arrangement, he said, is intended to provide OFW applicants with a government-coordinated recruitment process. For his part, Croatian Ambassador to the Philippines Nebojša Koharović assured that Filipino would be welcomed into Croatian communities, and encouraged them to uphold the positive reputation Filipino workers. Cacdac said Filipino applicants interested in the DMW-Croatia G2G recruitment arrangement may obtain additional information from the official Facebook page of the DMW Pre-Employment and Government Placement Bureau.
