MANILA, February 19 ------ Filipino-American alpine skier Tallulah Proulx capped off her historic campaign at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, after completing the women's slalom course. The 17-year-old from Utah finished 50th overall with a combined time of 2:08.48, which is +29:38 behind the gold medalist. Proulx clocked 1:02.93 in the first run placing her at rank 61, while she improved her placing after the second run with a time of 1:05.55 at number 50.
The Filipino-American is among the 64 of the 95 alpine skiers who completed the course in the first run, while 53 finished the second run. Claiming the gold was American ski star Mikaela Shiffrin, who ended her Olympic medal drought by recording a total time of 1:39.10. This marks the third gold medal of the American alpine ski icon in her illustrious career, but her first since the 2018 Winter Games in Pyeongchang.
The eight-time World Cup champion dominated the women's slalom race, topping both runs to add another medal to her already decorated collection. Switzerland's Camille Rast bagged silver with a time of 1:40.60, while Sweden's Anna Swenn Larsson clinched bronze with a time of 1:40.81. Proulx made history for the Philippines as the first and youngest Filipina Winter Olympian, competing in giant slalom and slalom.
She finished 54th in women's giant slalom, where she was one of four 17-year-olds among the 76 female alpine skiers. Heading into her Winter Olympics debut, Proulx was keeping a positive mindset to put up her best performance and represent the Philippines. Proulx's compatriot, Filipino-Italian alpine skier Francis Ceccarelli concluded his campaign on Monday. He registered a DNF (did not finish) in men's slalom after crashing in the tough course and rough conditions before the race. Ceccarelli earlier finished 54th in men's giant slalom, making his Winter Games debut.
