PH COVID-19 recoveries up 8,080

December 21 ------ Ninety-three percent of those who tested positive for coronavirus disease in the Philippines have recovered, the Department of Health (DOH) said on Sunday, Dec. 20. In its latest bulletin, the DOH said the Philippines recorded 8,080 new survivors, pushing the total number of recovered cases to 429,134. On the other hand, the DOH also logged 36 more fatalities, bringing the COVID-19 related-deaths to 8,947.

The total number of confirmed cases in the country has gone up to 459,789, after 1,754 new infections were detected by the DOH. Of the total, 21,708 are active cases or those who are still being treated. Of these, 81.3 percent are mild, 8.7 percent are asymptomatic, 3.2 percent are severe, 0.37 percent are moderate, and 6.4 percent are in critical condition.

The top five areas that logged the most number of new cases were Quezon City with 163, Rizal with 104, Benguet and Laguna both with 83 new infected residents, and Bulacan with 61. There were nine duplicates that were removed from the total case count, of these, seven were recovered cases, the DOH noted. “Huwag po natin hayaan na madagdagan pa ang mga Pilipinong naging biktima ng COVID-19. Bagamat sa ngayon ay naaagapan na natin ang pinsala ng virus, hindi pa tapos ang laban at kinakailangan nating lahat maging matatag at manatiling disiplinado,” the DOH reminded the public.

“Muli, kami po ay nananawagan na ating paigtingin ang pagsunod sa ating basic health protocols. Sa darating na ka-Paskuhan, huwag nating hayaang maging bunsod ng pagkakahawaan ang ating pampamilyang selebrasyon. Munting paraan lamang po ito ngunit malaki ang maitutulong sa pagpigil sa paglaganap ng COVID-19,” it added.
