MANILA, October 14 ------ The Philippine Coast Guard conducted a maritime domain awareness (MDA) flight over Bajo de Masinloc or Scarborough Shoal in the West Philippine Sea.

Despite the presence of Chinese vessels, PCG vessels BRP Teresa Magbanua and BRP Cape San Agustin, along with five ships of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), pushed through with the Kadiwa ng Bagong Bayaning Mangingisda (KBBM) Program, which seeks to deliver aid to Filipino fishermen in the area.

During the flight, a helicopter of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Navy was seen tailing the PCG Islander aircraft from a distance. The PCG did not disclose the estimated number of Chinese vessels spotted in the vicinity of Bajo de Masinloc.
