February 26 ------ Pauline Amelinckx has carved a name for herself on the pageant stage, not only as a formidable and accomplished titleholder, but also as a prolific host as of late. But can you imagine seeing the glamorous beauty doing office stuff? Yes, it happened. “Not many know this about me, but I did have a corporate job. Yup, for about 4 years I was a Retail & Sales girlie!” the “Boholana Belgian” posted on social media. “The benefits, stability, commissions, and even the thought of climbing the corporate ladder were all very appealing. But it was challenging too! Managing clients, orders, and delays. It wasn’t always a walk in the park, but it definitely toughened me up to face the real world,” Amelinckx continued.
Back then, she already took hosting gigs. But she could only do so during weekends or after work hours. She even used up all her leave credits to accommodate her side hustle. “I felt like I couldn’t do both. I loved event hosting, but combining it with a demanding job took so much of my personal time. Which meant less time for travel, less time for hobbies, less time with family, which are such important shapers of a good life (for me at least),” Amelinckx said.
With this realization, she took a leap of faith and quit her day job to pursue hosting full-time. “It was scary to step back from stability. But it was equally exciting to choose to forge your own path rather than climbing a corporate ladder (not that it's a bad thing to want to prefer the corporate life),” she said. “There may have been uncertain moments, even up to this day. But I have no regrets. Honestly, I didn’t know if it would work out. I still don’t know if it will. But I can choose to show up for myself, put in the work, and stay grounded through gratitude,” Amelinckx continued. She has become a familiar name among pageant circles after winning a title at the 50th anniversary edition of the Mutya ng Pilipinas competition in 2018.
Amelinckx became an even more prominent personality in her three attempts in the Miss Universe Philippines pageant, where she became a runner-up in 2020, won the “Charity” crown in 2022, and clinched the Miss Supranational Philippines title in 2023.
In her first international competition, the 2023 Miss Supranational pageant held in Poland just weeks after the national pageant, Amelicnkx finished strong and was proclaimed first runner-up. And this, expectedly, resulted in more hosting jobs. In closing her social media post, Amelinckx issued this reminder to the public: “Betting on yourself is always a good choice. If you’re gonna give anyone a chance in this life, let that someone be YOU.”
