MANILA, May 7 ------ Malacañang hailed the inclusion of two Philippine beaches in the World’s 50 Best Beaches 2025 list, calling it a proud moment that reflects the country’s unmatched natural beauty and growing global reputation as a premier beach destination.
Entalula Beach in El Nido, Palawan ranked second on the list, while Bon Bon Beach in Romblon placed 38th – a feat warmly welcomed by the Marcos administration. “Ang pagkilalang ito ay patunay na kahanga-hanga ang ganda ng Pilipinas at sa ating global standing bilang isa sa mga pinagmamalaking beach destination sa buong mundo,” Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said in a press briefing.
Castro pointed to the postcard-perfect limestone cliffs and crystal-clear waters of Entalula, and the quiet charm of Bon Bon Beach’s sandbar, as examples of the country’s world-class island offerings. She said the recognition supports the administration’s National Tourism Development Plan 2023–2028 and the Department of Tourism’s (DOT) “Love the Philippines” campaign, both of which aim to promote sustainable travel and heritage preservation. “Patuloy ang DOT sa pagsusulong ng sustainable tourism hindi lang para sa ating coastal destinations kung hindi para rin sa pag-unlad ng ating mga komunidad at pagtaguyod ng ating national heritage,” she said.
According to The World’s 50 Best Beaches website, the rankings were based on eight criteria: uniqueness; wildlife; pristine conditions; soundtrack of nature; ease of entry; calm waters; unspoiled tranquility; and consistently idyllic. Entalula Beach was commended for its “amazing seclusion” and “striking limestone cliffs that provide a stunning and dramatic backdrop to its white, sandy shores.” “This beach is less frequented than others in the area, offering visitors a chance to escape the usual tourist spots and truly immerse themselves in nature. The water is remarkably clear, providing excellent conditions for both swimming and snorkeling, where visitors can explore vibrant coral reefs just a short swim from the shore. Accessible only by boat, Entalula adds an element of adventure and exclusivity to any visit. Its striking natural features and tranquil atmosphere make it a coveted spot for relaxation and appreciating nature,” the website stated. Meanwhile, Bon Bon Beach on Romblon Island is “admired for its unique natural sandbar that stretches out to Bangug Island. Visible during low tide, this sandbar allows visitors to walk across the shallow, clear waters to the neighboring island.”
The website further described the beach as “undeveloped, preserving its serene and unspoiled charm. The sand is fine and white, while the water is incredibly clear, providing lovely swimming conditions without big waves. As a lesser-known destination, Bon Bon Beach offers a quiet retreat compared to more tourist-heavy spots, so much so that often you could have this beach all to yourself.”
