PAGASA: LPA to bring rains until weekend

MANILA, Philippines, July 19 ------ The low-pressure area near Occidental Mindoro is expected to continue bringing rains over parts of the country until the weekend, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

As of 3 p.m. yesterday, the LPA was monitored in the vicinity of Sablayan town in Occidental Mindoro. State weather forecasters said there is a low chance that the LPA will develop into a tropical cyclone. The weather disturbance is forecast to exit the Philippine area of responsibility by Saturday or Sunday. Scattered to widespread rains over Mimaropa, Western Visayas and Batangas are expected. The trough of the LPA will also bring scattered rains over Metro Manila, Central Luzon, the Bicol region and the rest of Calabarzon.

Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon is affecting Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. Scattered rains over Mindanao and the rest of Visayas are expected. The rest of Luzon may see cloudy skies with isolated rains due to localized thunderstorms.
