Over 60% of teens now fully vaxxed

MANILA, Philippines, February 7 ------ More than half of children aged 12 to 17 nationwide are now fully vaccinated against COVID-19, the Department of Health (DOH) reported yesterday. In a radio interview, Health Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje said over 60 percent of children aged 12 to 17 have been fully vaccinated since the rollout of the pediatric jabs last November. “We are happy to report our good coverage of the rest of pediatric population,” Cabotaje said in a mix of Filipino and English, while noting that 77 percent received first dose and 65.6 percent completed two doses.

However, Cabotaje said only 23 percent, or 299,000 out of 1.2 million children with comorbidity, are fully vaccinated. “Of course, there is still some hesitancy from those whose children have comorbidities,” Cabotaje noted.
