MANILA, April 4 ----- A hefty drop in the price of cooking gas greeted consumers at the start of Holy Week, as local oil firms announced a cut in the cost of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) by P9.20 per kilogram (kg) or P101.20 per 11-kg cylinder.

The drawback, however, is a hike in the pump prices of gasoline, diesel and kerosene effective Tuesday, April 4, after three consecutive weeks of rollbacks.

In separate advisories, local oil firms said they would increase the prices of an advisory gasoline by P1.40 per liter, diesel by P0.50 per liter, and kerosene by P0.20 per liter. They will be implementing the price adjustments as follow:

Seaoil (6 a.m.)

Gasoline: +P1.40 per liter

Diesel: +P0.50 per liter

Kerosene: +P0.20 per liter

Shell (6 a.m.)

Gasoline: +P1.40 per liter

Diesel: +P0.50 per liter

Kerosene: +P0.20 per liter

Cleanfuel (4:01 p.m.)

Gasoline: +P1.40 per liter

Diesel: +P0.50 per liter

Caltex (12:01 a.m.)

Gasoline: +P1.40 per liter

Diesel: +P0.50 per liter

Kerosene: +P0.20 per liter

Jetti Petroleum (6 a.m.)

Gasoline: +P1.40 per liter

Diesel: +P0.50 per liter

The oil price hike came after two weeks of price rollbacks. Last week’s fuel prices were cut by P0.85 per liter for gasoline, P1.30 per liter for diesel and P1.90 per liter for kerosene. According to the Department of Energy (DOE), this resulted in a year-to-date per-liter net decrease for diesel at P4.15 and kerosene at P5.55. Gasoline, meanwhile, had a net increase of P4.65 per liter.

Meanwhile, consumers began enjoying a P9.20-per-kilogram rollback on LPG prices on Saturday, April 1.
