OCTA: COVID-19 positivity rate in NCR breaches 10%

Metro Manila, July 11 ------ The COVID-19 positivity rate in Metro Manila has breached 10%, which means one in 10 people tested for the virus turned out infected, the OCTA Research said.

The World Health Organization recommends the figure to be less than 5% to be able to say that viral transmission is under control. OCTA Research fellow Guido David said the percentage in the capital region rose to 10.4% as of July 7, from 8.3% as of July 2. Meanwhile, several other localities nationwide also see more residents testing positive for the coronavirus, with their positivity rates staying above 10%. In the OCTA update which showed comparisons between July 2 and 7 in select areas, Antique had the highest rate at 18.9%, from 17.1%. Capiz followed with a sharp increase from 6.2% to 17.8%. Other areas listed are Laguna (16.2% from 10.3%); Cavite (16.2% from 12.7%); Pampanga (16.1% from 9.1%); and Rizal (15.7% from 11.3%).
