No Pinoy casualty in UAE flooding but DMW offices preparing food, other relief items

April 18 ------ Migrant workers offices (MWOs) in Abu Dhabi and Dubai are now preparing food items and other items for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) amid the severe flooding in the Middle East country.

In a statement, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said it is continuously monitoring for updates in the flood-affected areas in UAE, including the regular check on the condition of as many OFWs. “There is no reported dead or injured Filipinos, we are hoping that this would remain so,” the DMW said.

Several areas in UAE were submerged in flood after downpour, which experts said are equivalent to more than a year of rainwater. The DMW said the flooding forced the Philippine Consulate General Office and the MWO in Dubai to suspend work. It added that transportation remains a challenge in the affected areas.
