No classes in Manila as INC rally moves to Liwasang Bonifacio

July 2 ------ Classes at all levels in both public and private schools in Manila were suspended today, July 2, following the transfer of the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) rally to Liwasang Bonifacio.

Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno" Domagoso announced the suspension to help ensure the safety and convenience of students, teachers, and school personnel amid the scheduled gathering. As of 8 a.m., around 400 INC members, most of them from the Batangas 1st District, had arrived at Liwasang Bonifacio. No program had started as of posting.

To ensure the safety and orderly conduct of the gathering, the Manila City Government deployed personnel from the Manila Department of Social Welfare for food distribution, the Department of Environment and Public Services to maintain the cleanliness of the area, and the Manila City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department to provide first aid and respond to any emergencies. Earlier, the Manila City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department (MCDRRMD) was placed under Red Alert Status as part of the city’s heightened preparedness measures to ensure an immediate response to any incident or emergency during the protest.
