Next Regine Velasquez? Asia's Phoenix Morissette Amon reacts

May 3 ------ Concert King Martin Nievera and Asia's Phoenix Morissette Amon are returning to the US for a concert tour entitled "Martin and Morissette" at the Graton Resort & Casino on June 2 and the Fantasy Resort Spring Casino in California on June 3.

Martin and Morissette are looking forward to performing for their fans abroad, but this is not their first time performing together.

"Not at all. I think Tito Martin is the very first artist na kumuha sa akin at isama ako sa mga tour outside the country. But I've done a lot of shows with Tito Martin, and it's always a joy. Hindi ito bago sa amin pero first time uli namin magsama sa mga show after the pandemic. So definitely this is something I look forward to," said Morissette during a Zoom with the entertainment press recently.

(I think Tito Martin is the very first artist to hire me and take me on tours outside the country. But I've done a lot of shows with Tito Martin and it's always a joy. This is not new to us, but it's the first time we'll be together again in the shows after the pandemic. So definitely this is something I look forward to.)

As far as Martin is concerned, he always wants to work with the best, such as Morissette. "When I work, I like to work with the best. I've had Morissette in Las Vegas and they loved her. Everywhere you bring Morissette, everybody loves her. She is a talent that is like no other. She's good at what she does. Not only that, but she has a beautiful voice and a beautiful personality," said Martin, who is currently celebrating his 41 years in the entertainment industry. Martin added: "People who watched her, had their jaws dropped. Mind-blowing, yes! I'm excited to have her again in a back-to-back show this time. Not just my guest but back-to-back with Morissette. I'm very excited."

Morissette responded to Martin's remarks by saying her family also enjoys the balladeer's music. "I'm honored. Concert king po yan eh. Yung family ko sobrang fan din ni Tito Martin. I've shared many stages with Tito Martin, sobrang nakaka-humble. There's so much talent in the Philippines, but I'm always grateful Tito Martin would always have me in his current shows," she also said.

There is no doubt that Morrissette is a great singer, and some industry experts think she could become the next Regine Velasquez-Alcasid. "I'm super grateful for this. Pinadala sa akin ng mga fans ko yung articles. I'm just super grateful na the likes of APO Hiking Society and same with Tito Martin who said I could be someone who could carry on OPM," Morissette said.

Morissette describes herself as an artist in transition at the moment. "It's an honor po talaga. Actually, right now, I'm going through a transition of just growing more as an artist. Before I was more of a singer and an interpreter, which is wala naman pong problem. I just want to have more growth. I had a realization during the pandemic, na parang to grow more as an artist through songwriting and even producing as well," she said when compared to Regine.

"I'm just super grateful na I'm surrounded by the greatest people in my team to help me in my process. Kasi hindi talaga siya madaling adjustment na parang they will just step out of their comfort zone to try new things. It took a lot of mindset and courage to just try new things. I'm grateful na nakikitaan po nila ako ng potential. It just motivates me to keep going as an artist," she added.
