New batch of Israel experts arrive in Philippines to discuss COVID-19 response

July 27 ------ Another batch of clinical experts from Israel arrived in the Philippines on Monday to share their practices against the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the Department of Health (DOH), the experts will share their current clinical guidelines for COVID-19, infection control protocols, hospital management, and other practices. They will participate in a series of activities during their five-day visit to observe the country’s COVID-19 response.

“The DOH is excited to hear from our Israeli delegates the learnings and experiences they have gained from their battle against COVID-19,” Health Secretary Francisco T. Duque III said in a statement. Israel stopped requiring the wearing of face masks in April after it had fully vaccinated more than 80% of its population. However, the Israeli government later reimposed the policy in enclosed spaces and launched third vaccine jabs for the most vulnerable population as cases rose in the country.

“We are looking forward to building upon our partnership, our efforts in one accord, for our mutual desire to save lives, and promote better health outcomes for Filipinos,” Duque said. Last month, a team of experts from the Israel Ministry of Health visited the Philippines to share their strategies in COVID-19 response. The DOH said the experts would also give recommendations. “This visit from the Israeli delegates is an opportune time to learn from the best practices of Israel on their clinical management of COVID-19 cases,” Health undersecretary Leopold Vega said.

Vega added the country will also share its practices with the delegates. “These exchanges are crucial if we want to beat COVID-19. We must remember that none of us is safe until all of us are safe,” he said.
