NDRRMC: Paeng death toll climbs to 150, almost 4 million people affected

Metro Manila, November 4 ------ The number of fatalities due to Severe Tropical Storm Paeng has climbed to 150, latest data from the disaster management agency showed.

As of its recent report, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) noted 94 of the deaths were confirmed while 56 are for validation. Of those verified, 63 were from the Bangsamoro region, 28 from Western Visayas, and three from Soccsksargen. The number of injured stood at 128 while 36 others remain missing, it added. The number of affected residents has climbed to over 3.96 million or over 1.13 million families, who live in 8,712 barangays across the country.

A total of 15,162 houses were damaged worth P17.28 million, most of which are in Western Visayas. Damage to infrastructure reached P2.8 billion while damage to agriculture was pegged at P2.44 billion. Meanwhile, 56% of the 354 cities and municipalities that reported power interruption have been restored. Water supply has been also restored in 55% of the 20 areas that reported interruption.
