May 5 ------ Residents displaced by the recent eruption of Mt. Bulusan have now returned to their homes, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said.

According to Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao of the DSWD’s Disaster Response Management Group (DRMG), the five evacuation centers established for the displaced families have officially ceased operations. “The DSWD’s Field Office (FO) personnel in Bicol Region were among the camp coordinators who helped with the decampment of evacuees. Our agency’s response, however, does not stop here. Monitoring efforts will continue especially as Mt. Bulusan remains on Alert Level 1,” Dumlao said.

Despite the recent decampment, the DSWD said it remains on high alert and ready to deploy additional relief supplies as necessary. The agency's Bicol Regional Office currently maintains over P3 million in standby funds, along with stockpiles of family food packs and non-food items amounting to more than P205 million.

Bulusan Volcano had a phreatic eruption on April 28 and on April 30 which caused ashfall in some towns.
